What's a Fourth of July Parade Without Marching Bands?

The marching bands from throughout the Lincoln-Way communities join in making the Mokena Fourth of July Parade a lively event.

The Lincoln-Way Central Marching Knights have a sweet spot for the Mokena Fourth of July Parade.

The Marching Knights were hard at work this week, practicing for the Mokena Fourth of July Parade. The woodwinds section was working to perfect their marching stance July 2 before joing with the rest of the band.

Drum Major Teresa Mountford, senior, enjoys the Mokena parade because it's the first public event for the incoming freshmen. It's where they learn what it's like to be a Marching Griffin.

The same sentiment is shared by each of the marching bands in Lincoln-Way High School Dist. 210—Lincoln-Way East Marching GriffinsLincoln-Way North Marching PhoenixLincoln-Way Central Marching KnightsLincoln-Way West Marching Warriors.

School hasn't been out long, but already marching band students have been practicing for the upcoming 2013 season. They'll take a couple weeks off in July, then the rest of the summer is spent practicing for band shows throughout the region and nationwide.
