New Lenox School District 122 Union officials called on the school board to support a move to settle what they perceived as unfair labor practices and possible official misconduct charges. The uproar came about after Board Member Maureen Broderick was said to have requested a copy of an email sent from Union President Katie Kollross to members of AFT Local 604.

Broderick's latest action worked liked gasoline poured on a bonfire. Election 2013 for the New Lenox School District 122 got a kick-start when an objection to a petition temporarily got Board Member Kathy Miller booted off the ballot.

The action boiled over into a public outcry that generated comments from School Board President Nick DiSandro, who said Broderick was behind the petition challenge and manipulated the process for a hearing on the matter. Ultimately a judge's ruling on an appeal put Miller back on the board, while accusations of underhanded political maneuvering were foisted at Broderick.

The matter wasn't dropped there. Board members later chastised two of there own—Broderick and Sue Smith—for going against school district legal advice in voting at a to kick Miller off the board.

Miller is considering a civil action against Broderick.

The Union action is the latest part in the ongoing saga that surrounds the NLSD122 Board of Education.
