The Class of 2013 Lincoln-Way Knights Graduate

The Lincoln-Way Central High School Class of 2013 made their final walk through the hall as students May 31. A total of 469 teens received their diplomas at graduation ceremonies held in the field house.

The class valedictorian was Danijela Jackovic and the salutatorian was Kelly Fleckenstein.

Principal Steve Provis said, "I would like to personally congratulate each and every one of your and wish you happiness as you pursue another chapter in your lives."

He noted that LWCHS is ranked in the top 8.2 percent in the state of Illinois. "We are 55th out of 668 schools in  the state. Thank you for a job well done."

On that note, Jackovich, who is bound for Stanford University in the fall, stood before the class and reflected on the past four years. "Four years ago, on our first day here at Lincoln-Way Central, we all gathered together in the field house for the first time as a Lincoln-Way Central Family." She went on to talk about individual legacies, goals and challenges.

"As we prepare to dive headfirst into new waters, it is hard to say goodbye to the school that we have made our home and the to the classmates that we have made our family, but i  promise it will be worth it. Great things lie ahead for each and every one of us."

Senior Class President Catrina Cimaroli stirred a smile when she evoked the enthusiastic statement made more popular by "Legally Blonde" character Elle Woods—"We did it!"

"We look forward to hearing of your continued achievements and to proudly claiming you as Lincoln-way Central alumni. It is important and appropriate that we've honored your achievements today" said Arvid Johnson, president of the LWHS D210 Board of Education.

Once the diplomas were passed out the ceremony was coming to an end, the students were offered an opportunity. The Lincoln-Way Central Knights Class of 2013 graduates tossed their hats in the celebration of the one-in-a-lifetime night.
