Sports Photo Gallery: L-Way Central Takes Down Rival Providence
Knights defeat Celtics 16-1 in softball opener behind hitting of Kylie Bennett and pitching of Nicole Walshon.
Despite the cold conditions, Lincoln-Way Central and Providence were pumped for a hot softball matchup when the two met earlier this week.
Central junior Nicole Walshon pitched a five-hitter and struck out six in the Knights' 16-1 victory. Kylie Bennett led the offensive onslaught. She went 3-for-4 and had three RBIs.
"Nicole (Walshon) got us six strikeouts, which was key, and our defense was strong," Lincoln-Way Central coach Steve Paulson said.
