12 high schools, from Palos Hills to Bradley-Bourbonnais, participated in the March 1 Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Special Games in New Lenox.

The 12th Annual Special Games at Lincoln-Way Central High School brought together students involved in special education programs from 12 high schools in the region.

The field house was alive March 1 with students and peer helpers for the special games event that featured plenty of clowning around from professional sports teams mascots, including the White Sox, and high school mascots.

The 12 schools participating in the event are: Andrew, Bolingbrook, Bradley-Bourbonnais, Joliet Township, Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way North, Lincoln-Way West, Lockport, Sandburg, Stagg, and Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

From relay races to bowling, the students cheered for their favorit teams and players throughout the day. They participated in disc throw, target throw, beanbag toss, running sprints and dribbling. There was also a football toss, ring toss and basketball hoop shoot.

I am a peer trainer for Joliet central, and I will be the first so say this is an experience I will never forget. Being a part of the games assisting my partner and other students and peers has given me great pride. All of the schools were very welcoming and nice to everyone, it makes for a very comforting and excepting environment. Thank you to all of those who participated, it's an honor to have been a part of the 2013 Special Games!
