New Lenox Teen Jailed For Allegedly Threatening Lincoln-Way West Staff

The 17-year-old has spent three days in jail and will be in another two before his lawyer can make a case to reduce his bond.

A New Lenox teen was locked up in the Will County jail Friday for allegedly threatening Lincoln-Way West High School staff.

Logan Bowman, a 17-year-old student at Lincoln-Way West High School, was arrested Friday and charged with felony disorderly conduct.

One of Bowman's younger relatives who is also a student at Lincoln-Way West was involved in a fight in the school's auditorium, according to the Will County Sheriff's Department.

"He was upset by the fight," a department spokeswoman said of Bowman.

Lincoln-Way West staff attempted to calm Bowman but he ran off, police said, and "when he came back he made threats to the staff."

"He was making threats regarding a weapon," the spokeswoman said.

Bowman's father appeared at his bond hearing Monday afternoon. Assistant Public Defender Eric Berg tried to ask Judge Dave Carlson to reduce Bowman's bond but prosecutors said the matter had to be scheduled for a later date. Carlson said arguments on the matter will be heard Wednesday afternoon.

Berg said Bowman's bond should be reduced due to his age.

Bowman needs $1,000 to get out of jail. In the event Bowman gets the money together before his Wednesday hearing and is released from from custody, Judge Carlson ordered him to stay away from both Lincoln-Way West Principal Monica Schmitt and the school itself.
