Mr. Perfect: LW-West Student Scores 36 on ACT

How does it feel to be perfect? senior Eric Staniszewski says he's happy and relieved after learning that he got a perfect 36 on the ACT test.

“I felt really happy when I received the news about the score," Staniszewski said in a news release. "It was a great relief after feeling a lot of pressure before I took the test."

The ACT test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, math, reading and science.

Staniszewski, a resident of unincorporated Mokena in New Lenox Township, said he took several practice tests and the ACT prep class offered after school.

He's is also involved in many activities at school. He plays center back on the varsity soccer team, and is a member of the Mathletes team that placed at a state competition last year. He is also member of the National Honor Society, Pi Sigma Pi, and Mu Alpha Theta. To relax, he enjoys playing the trumpet at home.

Eric is applying to 11 colleges and universities in the Midwest and the east coast. He spent the summer completing 19 essays for the different college applications. He's interested in majoring in mechanical engineering and then going to graduate school to earn his MBA in business management.

“I am hoping this ACT score will help with my college selection process," he said. "I hope to be able to select a college or university from the ones that have accepted me."
