Marching Warriors Take the Heat to Learn the Show

School starts early for LWWHS Marching Warriors as they practice fresh routines for the 2012 marching season.

The award-winning have begun their 2012 marching season introducing new band members to their music. The entire band is learning the music and routines for their upcoming competitive show season, plus their very popular parade music.

 “The name of our competitive production this year is “Urban Sprawl.” The music was newly composed for the band this year by Craig Andrew Fitzpatrick, and the visual design is by Mike Lentz,” commented , band director and Music Department Chair for West.

In the heat of the day, the 52- member Marching Warriors have already completed the first of a two-part intensive band camp session at the LWWHS campus. During the first round, July 30-Aug. 2, they learned the music and the basic steps. And from Aug. 6-9, they'll be refining those moves.

The band will complete their band camp with a free community performance in the evening on Aug. 9.  The free community performance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.

Their first summer 2012 performance was the Mokena July 4 Community Parade.
