Lincoln-Way Central, West 'House of Blooms' Open for Business

Students have been growing and nurturing hundreds of springs plants since January, and now they're ready to sell them to others with a green thumb.

Spring plant sales are underway for Lincoln-Way Central and West students. Months of hard work and delicate nurturing have paid off for the students in Marc Hucek’s Greenhouse Management class and Intro to Horticulture.

The two classes began growing this year’s plants in early February in the school’s greenhouse and are ready to begin selling them to the community.

“They go on sale Friday, May 9 from 7:15 to 8 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. until they sell out. The green house will be open the week of May 12 from 7:30 to 8 a.m.,” noted Hucek.

Six-packs of flowers are $2 and flats are $10 (6-6packs). Hanging baskets and all other plants are marked, noted Hucek.

“All the proceeds from selling the plants goes back into the program to buy supplies for the poinsettia plant sale next winter,” noted Hucek.

The public can contact the teacher at mhucek@lw210.org to place an order, come to the main office to get an order form, or come to the main lobby of Lincoln-Way Central from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. to purchase the spring flowers.
