Lincoln-Way West Celebrates Scholarship Night
Lincoln-Way West students win more than $61,300 worth of scholarships.
Lincoln-Way West students were awarded academic scholarships during the school’s third annual Senior Scholarship Night on Tuesday, May 14. The prestigious event was held in the school’s Fine Arts Center with more than 500 parents, community members and students in attendance.

One hundred and ten scholarships totaling $61,300 were awarded to 105 seniors at the event.
“On behalf of all of us here tonight, I want to thank the scholarship presenters who are representing the individuals and organizations giving scholarships to our students,” stated Dr. Monica Schmitt, principal at Lincoln-Way West.

“You make this entire evening possible,” she added. “We are very appreciative of all you have done as well as your generous contributions to the students at Lincoln-Way West.”
The evening began with a buffet dinner catered by Aurelio’s of Frankfort and sponsored by Old Second Bank, LincolnWay Community Bank and GCA Services Group.
Lincoln-Way West music students Shaw Weems, Gena Tanquilut, Gabrielle Tanquilut and Erika Tanquilut were members of a string quartet that provided the background music during dinner.
Among those honored at the Senior Scholarship Night were the school’s 2013 Valedictorian, Deanna DiMonte, and Salutatorian, Amanda DeSalvo.

Wyllie; Frankfort Car Club; Hedges Clinic; Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra; Kevin Molloy, State Farm Insurance; Korean War Veterans Association South Suburban Chapter 23; Laraway Lanes; Lincoln-Way Area Business Women’s Organization; Lincoln-Way Area Chorale; LincolnWay Community Bank; Meridian Medical Associates; Mike’s Furniture; New Lenox Chamber of Commerce; New Lenox Lions Club; New Lenox PTO; New Lenox Rotary Club; Peace Lutheran Church; Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center; Provisur Technologies; Tom E.
