Lincoln-Way Central High School Honors Top Academic Students

Top academic achievers are honored at Lincoln-Way Central's Breakfast with the Principal.

Lincoln-Way Central High School honored its top academic students at the annual Breakfast with the Principal. In addition, on Sept. 26 , parents were given information for college preparation from freshman to senior year at the popular event for students and parents.

"We are very proud of these students. It is quite an accomplishment to be in the Top 15 at Lincoln-Way Central. It takes hard work and dedication," stated Dr. Steve Provis, principal, a Lincoln-Way graduate himself of the class of 1986.

Parents were invited to sign up for the Breakfast with the Principal at Central's "Back to School Night." Over 200 attended the event.

Every year, Lincoln-Way High School District 210 principals invite parents to the schools to meet with staff, hear current information about school programs and answer questions the parents have about school procedures and planning for their child's education future.

Lincoln-Way North hosted a breakfast meeting on September 5, Lincoln-Way West on September 12 and Lincoln-Way East on September 19.

Parents were welcomed to the event with music being played by the Lincoln-Way Central strings quintet of Hannah Burkhardt, Alex Krahulec, Rose DeVenuto, Megan Barnett, and James Watson.

Lincoln-Way parents heard a program presented by Janet Reis, Central College counselor, about the college admission process and how parents, teachers, and school counselors can help students prepare for college. She outlined a four-year plan that each student is encouraged to participate in to ensure all high school and college entrance requirements are met.

"This is my passion, helping our students prepare for college," said Reis as she outlined five easy steps for all students to do in preparation for college.

She told parents and students: "Take the most challenging courses of study available; build relationships with peers, teachers, and counselors as these people can help writing recommendations for college; work on developing strong study habits, note-taking and time management skills; discuss post high school plans with your parents/legal guardians and your counselor."
