L-W Central, L-W West Host Annual Spring Art Shows

Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West high schools hosted their annual Spring Art Shows this month, giving area residents, students, faculty and staff a chance to view a variety of student artwork.

On display were more than 250 pieces, including drawings, paintings, photography, jewelry, graphic design, ceramics, animation and art fundamentals.

“This year’s collection was some of our strongest work ever,” said Paul Faris, the art department chair at Lincoln-Central and Lincoln-Way West high schools. “These students enjoy what they do and take their work seriously, which is apparent by the quality of artwork they create.”

 Awards of Excellence were presented to the following Lincoln-Way Central students: Dylan Rigsby, Amanda Elliot, Bridget Turrisi, Rhealin Wlos, Daniel Farrelly, Alexis Heabel, Savannah Allen, Megan DePaula, Autumn Schultz, Jeffrey Schoenhofen, Rebecca Gilbert, Hannah Burkhardt, Lauren Lucas, Kassandra Luna, Monica Schrank, Katie Jandeska, Paige Kestel, Amanda Crnich, Becca Kahney, Natalie Brown, Hannah Ehlers, Kaitelynn Lovell, Neil Vogt, Emily Marfileno, Emma Smith, Sarah Florek, Neva Taylor, Kori Koopman, Kirk Boer, Jacob Gardner, Andrea Concaildi, Breena Rohrbacher, Raelle Harmon, Lana Crump, Jess Schury, Nicole Clancy, Jared Lively and Julia Jeray.

Awards of Excellence were presented to the following Lincoln-Way West students: Amanda Medendorp, Gavin Rupeika, Amanda Fitzgerald, Tony Armor, Rachel Zielinski, Savanna Miska, Hannah Rodey, Lindsey Anderson, Nicole Cunningham, Mitch Kozma, Nick Andrade, Deanna DiMonte, Samantha Perillo, Troy Kessel, Courtney Schoaf, Brianna Rose, T J. Mulka, Elizabeth Klemenz, Paige Kinney, Sarah Wegrzyn, Amber Frederiksen, Mark Carroll, Nick Dangles, Caroline Larson, Oscar Graefen, Courtney Bingham, Jessica Karlic, Audrey Pearson, Craig Majcher, Will Baker, Izzy Reyes and Katelyn Radovich.

 Best of Show Awards were presented to Paige Payne from Lincoln-Way Central and Deanna DiMonte from Lincoln-Way West.

 Purchase Awards were presented to Kassandra Luna from Lincoln-Way Central and Emily Cunningham from Lincoln-Way West. Their artwork will be framed and placed on permanent display in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center at their respective schools.
