Severe Weather Spotter Training 7:00pm-9:00pm
The Village of New Lenox, in partnership with the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition and Citizen Corps Council, with the assistance of the Will County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service, is proud to announce the 3rd Annual New Lenox Severe Weather Spotter Training / Health and Safety Expo. The event will be held on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at Lincoln Way West High School, 21701 Gougar Road New Lenox, IL 60451 in the Performing Arts Center.
The Health and Safety Expo will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm just outside the Performing Arts Center. Approximately 30 public and private sector organizations that provide public safety and health services will be on hand to provide informational materials and services
The Severe Weather Spotter Training will take place in the Performing Arts Center Auditorium at 7:00pm and will last approximately 1 ½ -2 hours. The training will be presented by the National Weather Service and is designed to assist with the recognition and identification of severe storms capable of producing damaging winds, tornadoes, heavy rain and hail. Course topics also include procedures for reporting severe weather to appropriate agencies so warnings may be issued to the public.
Safety personnel from public and private facilities are encouraged to attend. This may include personnel from:
*Police
*Fire
*Public Works
*Emergency Services
*Schools
*Amateur Radio Operators
*Long-Term Care Facilities
*Scouting Groups
*Students and Parents
