Severe Weather Spotter Training

The Village of New Lenox and the New Lenox Police Department is proud to support our Safe Communities America Coalition and Citizen Corps Council with the 2nd Annual Health and Safety Expo and Severe Weather Spotter Training.

The event will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at Lincoln-Way Central High School, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway New Lenox, and is FREE to the public.

The Expo portion of the event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the All Purpose Room (cafeteria). Approximately 20 public and private sector organizations that provide public safety and health services will have materials available for distribution. This year’s Special Guest will be FOX Chicago News Meteorologist Mark Strehl from the Good Day Chicago Show.

The Severe Weather Spotter Training will take place in the Small Auditorium from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The training will be presented by the National Weather Service and is designed to assist with the recognition and identification of severe storms capable of producing damaging winds, tornadoes, heavy rain and hail. Course topics also include procedures for reporting severe weather to appropriate agencies so warnings may be issued to the public.
