Christian School Opens in New Lenox

The Community Christian School touts small class sizes and individualized instruction. It begins its first classes Aug. 23.

As students prepare to head back to school this month, some will be in the inaugural class at a new Christian school in New Lenox.

The Community Christian School, 22811 S. Cedar Road in New Lenox, will begin its first classes Aug. 23. The independent, non-denominational school will offer a K-12 curriculum.

New faculty members include Shaun Fernandez (New Lenox), Jessica Camp (Tinley Park), Carla McCabe (Manhattan), Colleen Chapell (Coal City), Michelle Heulett (Peotone), Martha Terhune (Peotone), Kim Sobierajski (Plainfield) and Amy Doty (Joliet).

In a news release, the school officials tout small class sizes and individualized instruction, as well as extracurricular activities and an emphasis on Christian values.

"CCS wants to produce well-rounded graduates who will be prepared to meet the many challenges of modern society," administrator Pat Quinn said in the release. "This school will provide a unique blend of old school moral values with cutting edge educational activities."
