Boys Golf: Lincoln-Way West's Knights, O'Keefe Headed Downstate

Lincoln-Way West's Will Knights and Andrew O'Keefe survived the cut in the Lemont Sectional and next will head to the Class 2A state tournament at Weibring Golf Club in Normal.

On the final weekend of the high school golf season, two Lincoln-Way West boys will be looking to make their final charges up the leaderboard on the IHSA's biggest stage.

Senior Will Knights and sophomore Andrew O'Keefe survived the cut to play another day in the Class 2A Lemont Sectional on Saturday at Broken Arrow. Knights shot a round of 6-over-par 78. O'Keefe finished two strokes back at 81.

Both were individual qualifiers for the Class 2A state tournament Friday and Saturday at Illinois State University's Weibring Golf Club in Normal. Knights finished five strokes back of medalist Sabastian Dobon of Fenton, a freshman who topped the field with his 1-over 73.

Lemont (315), Chicago Latin (318) and Nazareth Academy (323) finished 1-2-3 in the sectional and advanced their entire teams downstate. Lincoln-Way West placed sixth with a team total of 333.
