Ghosts in your TV

My Ghost Story and the latest NLCTV Programming

Seems lately there has been a flood of ghost story shows or ghost hunter shows popping up on cable channels.   Personally the ghost hunter shows can be a bit comical, but the ghost stories shows can give you a little chill.  From ' A Haunting' to the new 'School Sprits' everyone has a story to tell.

Here is my paranormal experience.

I grew up on the south side of Chicago in your average bungalow.  My older brother and I shared a bedroom that happened to be above our rec room in the basement. During Christmas break in 1976 we were the only ones home,  my parents and older sister were at work.  One morning I heard an elder woman's voice calling out the name 'George' over and over again.  Since it was winter all the windows were closed and you could not hear anyone outside.  As I listened to the voice, it sounded like it was coming from the basement.  My first thought was that someone may have left the TV on, but it really did not seem like that, plus I did not know a George.  I looked at my brother but he was still asleep. So I went downstairs to investigate.  When I got in the basement the voice stopped and no one was there.  I was a little freaked out, but didn't really think much of it.

A few weeks later when I was back in school I was the first one home, my parents and sister were at work and my brother went to work after school.  I was home alone.  I was sitting in the kitchen having a snack when I heard the back door open and someone walk in and went into the basement.  I thought it was my mom coming home from work, but then I looked at the time and it was way to early for anyone to come home.  I was scared, did someone just break into our house.  Terrified I picked up a kitchen knife and went down in the basement.  No one was there.

A few days later when I got home from school I went in the basement rec room to watch some TV, I was a little tried so I turned it off and started to take a nap on the couch.  That is when I heard foot steps coming towards me, I knew I was home alone and the sound of the foot steps was so clear, I was scared so I closed my eyes.  Then the foot steps stopped and it sounded like someone just sat in the recliner across from where I was lying down, I then decided to look to see who sat there and when I opened my eyes no one was there.

After that nothing ever happened again but what really freaked me out, was in 1998 when my mother passed away.  She died of a heart attack in the same spot where I heard the woman's voice  and the same recliner that I heard someone sit in.  I do not know if all this was just my imagination, but it was real to me.
