Lincoln-Way Toastmasters sends Two to Division “F” Contest

On September 22nd, Lincoln-Way Toastmasters moved to the next level of contests, receiving second place in the Humorous Speech Competition and first place in the Tall Tales Competition.

On September 22nd, Lincoln-Way Toastmasters moved to the next level of contests.  Local residents, Jim Katula received second place in the Humorous Speech Competition at  the Area 60 Contest and David Booth received first place in the Tall Tales Competition.

Jim Katula feels that “Toastmasters has improved my life by making sure that I am better prepared to handle speaking situations that arise. Every day, we are called on to speak and respond to questions on any topic. Toastmasters has allowed me to thrive under  pressure instead of withering. I joined Toastmasters to help me become a better speaker, but it has really made me a better person.”

Come out and support your local Toastmasters at the Division Contest on October 6th at 12:30 p.m. being held at Joliet Library on 3395 Black Road in Joliet.

The Lincoln-Way Toastmasters is a local chapter of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization who lives up to it’s slogan of “Making Effective Communication a Reality”.  It is a group dedicated to helping its members overcome the fear of public speaking while enhancing their communication and leadership skills.

Toastmasters is open to all individuals over eighteen years of age. The Lincoln-Way Toastmasters meeting is held at 7:30 P.M. on the first and third Thursday of each month at Lincoln-Way East High School. The meetings follow an organized agenda and gives everyone an opportunity to speak and listen more effectively.

Toastmasters is free to attend and membership fees, should you decide to join, are nominal. If you have any questions, feel free to check out http://lincolnway.freetoasthost.org/. Or, you can call Thad Gray, at 815-464-4414.
