Lincoln-Way Toastmasters sends Two to Area Contest

Two speakers from Lincoln-Way Toastmasters recently received first and second place in their chapter's Humorous Speech Contest. Everyone is welcome to come and check out the next round of contests.

Two speakers, Arun Menon and Jim Katula, from Lincoln-Way Toastmasters recently received first and second place respectively in their chapter’s Humorous Speech Contest. The next round of contests will be held on September 22nd at Lincoln-Way West High School in which the public is welcome to attend from 11a.m – 1p.m. in the Warriors Lodge Room. Appetizers will be served.

Arun enjoys Toastmasters because “prior to joining Toastmasters, I visited a chapter of the Toastmasters club four to five times  as a guest. During these visits, I observed that the members were very supportive of each other. The meetings were conducted in a manner where everyone felt at ease, including guests.  The entire atmosphere was very conducive to learning and developing one's speaking abilities. I observed and was impressed with the progress made by some speakers who were fairly new to the club.   Inspired by what I saw and experienced, I decided to not delay any further and became a member and have not missed a single day of the Toastmaster's club meeting in the last 6 months.  I have not been disappointed with my decision. Winning first place at my club's  humorous speech contest speaks volumes of how the Toastmasters club has helped me to develop the confidence for speaking. I know winning the contest is not the end, but just the beginning of my journey to become a good speaker.”
