LOCAL ALLSTAR CHEERLEADERS WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

LOCAL CHEERLEADERS WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Area Athletes Honored Among 300 All Star Teams

NEW LENOX, ILLINOIS – February 5, 2013 – Local athletes from Dreamz Elite Allstars won first place in their division at the Showdown Grand National Championship competition held February 2-3 in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Members of Dreamz Elite Allstars won the top award in the Level Three-Junior Cheer, small gym division, finishing first in a field of four teams.  The program also won third place in the Level One-Junior Cheer, small gym division.  The national ranking comes on the heels of recent First Place and Division Level Championship awards.

The two local teams joined more than 300 all star cheer programs—nearly 7,500 athletes— competing in 13 sessions and multiple divisions over two days, making the ninth annual Showdown Grand National Championship, one of the premier national competitions in the United States.  Cheer & Dance Squads compete in four different age ranges and competition skill levels.

“We are extremely proud of our team’s win at the Showdown Grand Nationals’ competition,” says Kimberly Scherp, a former Chicago Bulls Luvabull cheerleader and co-owner of Dreamz Elite Allstars. “They finished first in a very competitive field showing that hard work and a competitive spirit, help make dreams come true.”

Designed for children between the ages of five and 18, all-star cheerleading developed in the late 1980s as a competitive style of cheerleading. Today, there are an estimated 450,000 all-star cheerleaders in the United States.  All-star
cheerleaders train year round to perfect their stunts, tumbling, pyramids,
jumps and dance routines that are choreographed to music.  Routines are judged
for skill difficulty, sharpness of motion, originality and proper execution
techniques.  Dreamz Elite will be holding evaluations on May 1- 3rd at FlipStar Gymnastics Academy in New Lenox.  For more information contact info@dreamzelite.com.
