The key issue of the evening was the in regard to a 50-unit age-restricted housing apartment complex. The proposed ordinance will come up for a second reading and a vote at next Monday's meeting.

It would recalculate the way water tapping fees are charged for single-family, age-restricted developments. Some board members say the new calculations are fair based on usage, but others believe the $400,000 the village would stand to lose from the recalculation is too much to sacrifice.

French Market Starts This Saturday

The board approved a special events liquor license for the French Market, granting a permit for the entire summer and agreeing to charge the $100 fee only once. The market starts this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the south lot of Village Hall, and will run through mid-October. There are at least 14 vendors signed up with four more waiting to get approved. Locally grown produce, wines and cheeses from across the Midwest will be featured.
