Village Board Bits: Goodwill Resale Store Approved

The 20,000-square-foot retail store will move into the Walmart development center and offer drive-thru lanes for people donating goods.

Following approval Monday night, a Goodwill discount resale store will join the moving into the lots surrounding in New Lenox.

The 20,000 sq. ft. store will feature a double-wide drive through that will allow store employees to assist customers in dropping off goods at the resale shop. The resale store runs largely on donations from the community.

Additional plans include a strip mall that will be between Goodwill and Walmart. According to property's listing, there are proposed locations for a Petco, Party City and Dollar Tree in that strip center.

  • Mayor Tim Baldermann and the trustees present thanked participants in the camp held by Jim Peterik, Devin Hester and Dwyane Wade. "I want to thank the staff for working our camps this weekend. The camps went phenomenally well. They told me that they can't wait to come back next year," Baldermann said.

  • There will be a town hall meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the community room at the Village Hall. The focus will be on residents who live in New Lenox east of Cedar Road and north of Route 30, but anyone can come to ask questions or make statements.
