The Village of New Lenox is Hosting 'Honor Flight the Movie'

The Home of Proud Americans just seemed to be the right place to sponsor a program that promotes the Honor Flight program for World War II veterans.

After five years of transporting veterans to the memorial, a film has been made about the emotionally-stirring impact of the trip on the veterans who participate in the Honor Flight program.

And it's coming to New Lenox's AMC Showplace 14, if enough people sign up for the $10 special viewing of "Honor Flight the Movie." Show time is 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at AMC.

The film, "Honor Flight the Movie," was broadly released last Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Day. It is a heartwarming documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime—a chance to see the Washington, D.C. memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.

Release of the documentary is coordinated in collaboration with Honor Flight regional outlets—New Lenox is part of the Chicago-based group—and distribution is through Tugg Promotions. The Village is the sponsor and tickets will go on sale Jan. 15. They are $10 and can be purchased on line at Honor Flight the Movie. Fill in the pledge spot.

No credit card charges will be processed until seven days before the Feb. showing. If New Lenox fails to sell the minimum number of tickets, no charge will be processed.

The screening alone is a powerful statement of support, said Hoehn, but she's working on making the day more special. It's an opportunity to help raise funds to cover the $400-$500 cost per ticket for the veterans, while arranging for a variety of presenters before the viewing.  Details of the special day will continue to unfold, she added.
