Sheriff's Office to Hold Presentation on Avoiding Scams

On Monday, July 18, Will County Sheriff's Police Sgt. Teri Ellingham will give a free presentation on home repair frauds and scams aimed at senior citizens from 10-11 a.m. at Essington Place, 901 Essington Road in Joliet.

With summer in full force, an increase in elderly individuals falling victim to burglaries has been reported. 

Ellingham will focus on educating attendee's about the various ways people are taking advantage of senior citizens.  Some simple, effective ways to protect yourself will be discussed.

The presentation is hosted by the Joliet Township Triad in conjunction with Essington Place.  TRIAD is an organization made up of senior citizens and law enforcement agencies whose focus is crime prevention and safety. Senior Citizens, their family members and caretakers are invited.
