Election 2012: Was New Lenox an Obama or Romney Town?
The president captured his home state in Tuesday's election, but how did he fare in New Lenox precincts?
If New Lenox residents had their way, Tuesday night would have been all about the newly-elected President Mitt Romney.
However, President Barack Obama got the nod nationwide.
The total number of votes cast in all 20 precincts came out in favor of Mitt Romney, who garnered 10,591 ballots compared to 6,969 for Obama, according to data released by the Will County Clerk's Office.

Except for Precinct No. 1, voters in New Lenox coverwhelmingly favored Romney.

In fact, Obama's win in Precinct No.1 was miniscule. The vote total there was 373 for Obama and 371 for Romney.
The biggest vote getter for Romney was Precinct No. 7 where Republican ballots out-numbered Democrats by slightly more than 2-to-1. Voters there cast 696 votes for Romney compared to 329 for Obama. In Precinct No. 20, the vote was 684 for Romney compared to 344 for Obama.
Besides Precinct No. 1, which Obama won by a mere two votes, the smallest gap between the candidates was 102 ballots. In Precinct No. 13, the re-elected president garnered 386 votes compared to 488 for Romney. In Precinct No. 12, the gap between the president and his challenger was 107 votes. Of a total of 881 ballots cast in Precinct No. 12, 387 went to Obama and 494 went to Romney.
