Did Your Neighbors Vote? See Turnout for Every New Lenox Precinct

With low numbers reported throughout the day, New Lenox fell short of the county clerk's prediction of a 20 percent voter turnout.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, District 210 incumbent Kevin Molloy's wife went to vote in Manhattan, and she was just the 41st voter at her precinct that day, with only a couple hours left at the polls.

"I was a nervous wreck then," Molloy said. "That was the point that I thought I could be in a lot of trouble, because I come from the smallest community of the five that feed into the district."

Molly was re-elected, but low voter turnout reported throughout the day had candidates on edge.

"I sent out text messages to people I know, asking them to vote," said District 210 incumbent Christine Glatz, who was also re-elected. "I told them that their vote could really make a difference."

Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots projected a 20 percent turnout throughout the county on Election Day, and it was slightly under that, with 18.8 percent of the nearly 377,000 registered voters casting a ballot. But Voots said New Lenox seemed "very quiet" all day, and the village came in under projections with a 14.6 voter turnout.

"I'm disappointed in the voter turnout," said resident Dean Madison, who voted Tuesday at Village Hall. "People should know these races affect us and our children."
