'BootCamp for Job Seekers' Takes Aim at Unemployment

A collaborative effort between the Village, New Lenox Library District, New Lenox Chamber of Commerce and community volunteers are planning third "BootCamp for Job Seekers" is planned this month.

The third "BootCamp for Job Seekers," a joint effort by the Village, New Lenox Library District and the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce is aimed at reducing the unemployment rate in the Lincoln-Way communities.

Born out of the September 2012 Share Fest Job Fair, the boot camp collaborators are gathering from 6-7:30 p.m. June 25 at New Lenox Library, 120 Veterans Parkway. These workshop sessions are intended to provide information about navigating the labor market, how to beef up a résumé and how to connect with job providers.

The guest speaker is Bridget Nowak, a certified rehabilitation counselor, is expected to present insights on how to prepare for a job interview. Nowak & Associates is based at 9405 Bormet Drive, Mokena.

Nowak said, "You got the interview; now what?" Her goal is to help job seekers prepare themselves to make a good impression and get the offer.
