Youth Soccer Coach Arrested and Accused of Sexual Contact with 12-Year-Old Boy

A youth soccer coach who worked in Frankfort and the surrounding area has been arrested and accused of sexual contact with a 12-year-old boy.

Darrell J. Stephenson, 24, of Crest Hill, was taken into custody Friday night by the Will County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. He's being held in the Will County jail on $750,000 bail, according to a press release issued today.

Sheriff's investigators conducted a weeklong investigation before arresting Stephenson, a soccer coach who worked with various local soccer programs in the Frankfort, Plainfield and Joliet areas.

It's believed Stephenson may also have been a substitute teacher in the Joliet and Plainfield area, the release said.

Investigators conducted a search of Stephenson's residence Friday night.

It's possible Stephenson may have had inappropriate contact with other children. The sheriff's department is asking parents to speak with their children about their contact with Stephenson. Investigators can be contacted at 815-727-8574.

As a condition of his bond, should he be able to post it, Stephenson has been ordered to have no contact with any children.
