Witnesses: Car Hits Light Pole Along Laraway Road; Driver Taken Away in Cop Car

A young couple argued with each other after the car they were in crashed into a light pole Saturday at Laraway Road and Cardinal Drive. New Lenox Police at the scene would not comment on the accident.

One man was taken away in a police vehicle Saturday night after a car crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Laraway Road and Cardinal Drive, according to witnesses.

officers at the scene would not comment about how the accident happened or if anyone was hurt. Investigators were examining the incident area, as well as the car, its front end smashed in from impact with the pole.

At around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, neighbors inside their homes heard the squeal of brakes and tires, followed by the crash of the car hitting the light pole. That's when they witnessed the aftermath as some of them gathered on the sidewalk along Cardinal Drive.

A young couple—a man who drove the car and a woman who was the passenger—got out of the vehicle, arguing and yelling at one another, the neighbors said. The two did not appear hurt, according to witnesses, although an ambulance did arrive at the scene. The man was taken away in a police car, neighbors said, but they were unsure what happened to the woman after police arrived.

An officer at the scene a report on the accident would be available Monday.
