UPDATE: Police Get More Reports of Smashed Car Windows

The Crime Stoppers of Will County is offering up to a $5,000 reward if information leads to a successful arrest of the people who hit New Lenox cars Saturday night.

New Lenox police received four more reports of car windows being smashed this week, and a $5,000 reward for information is still available.

Last weekend, police investigated 14 incidents of broken rear windows that occurred overnight on Saturday, Sept. 24. On Monday and Tuesday, more reports came in, including incidents in the:

  • 700 block of Western Avenue;
  • 1000 block of Grandview Drive;
  • 300 block of Boeing Drive; and
  • 500 block of Stafford Drive.

Police were not immediately available to comment on the additional reports or whether they had any new leads. Earlier this week, Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz of the said there were a couple leads that hadn't yielded much information.

Resident Erica Earley was one victim whose car window was broken, and she suspected teenagers following the homecoming last weekend.

"I don't understand how kids could do this without any thought of the consequences, not only to themselves, but to those of us having to clean up and pay for the damage," Earley said. "I sure hope they figure out who did this because i have a $270 bill for their parents!"

Police wouldn't say if they suspected teens.

The Crime Stoppers of Will County is offering up to a $5,000 reward if information leads to a successful arrest of the people who smashed windows on 14 cars in New Lenox last weekend.

Police were called to 14 separate incidents early Sunday morning involving car windows that were smashed. Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz of the said investigators have a few leads but wouldn't release any more information.

Pawlisz said the department believes it was the same person or people who broke all 14 car windows. The rear window was found broken on cars in the:

  • 400 block of Siesta Drive;
  • 600 block of Joliet Highway;
  • 1800 block of Harvard Lane;
  • 800 block of Brigantine Drive;
  • 2600 and 2700 blocks of Bluestone Bay Drive;
  • 2800 block of Southwind Drive;
  • 2600 and 2700 blocks of Bimini Lane;
  • 700 block of Lake Road;
  • 500 block of Heartland Drive;
  • 600 and 700 block of Woodlawn Road; and
  • 700 block of Cooper Road.
