UPDATE: Police Looking for Car Stolen From Metra Lot

The car was stolen a week ago but New Lenox police said there are no leads yet.

A car stolen from the New Lenox Metra lot a week ago has yet to be recovered.

On Monday, Nov. 14, a blue 1995 Buick Century was stolen from the Metra commuter lot at 300 N. Church St. New Lenox Police Sgt. Hilary Davis said stolen cars are often located within a few days, but there are no leads with this vehicle.

The owner of the four-door car is a New Lenox resident, but police couldn't give out any more information, such as the car's license plate. The resident reported the car missing at 7:18 p.m. and said it was parked in the lot at 8:30 a.m.

Davis said there were no signs of forced entry at the scene, and the owner said there was also no key for the ignition inside the car.

The Metra lot has been a hub for criminal activity this year. Just last week, eight cars were burglarized after windows were shattered. Throughout the year, thieves have removed catalytic converters and hub caps from cars parked in the lot, .
