A thief succeeded in stealing from the New Lenox Walmart Tuesday morning.

The crook struck shortly before 10 a.m. and remains at large.

An officer sent to the East Lincoln Highway superstore after the crime occurred was told "an unknown person removed merchandise from the shelf, concealed the merchandise, and left the store without paying for the merchandise," police said.

The matter was sent to the police department's investigations division for review.

Is this really news anymore? Does the NLPD even persue these crimes beyond filling out a report? At least it gives the NL Patch something to fill the blank spaces with.

Who wrote this article? A 12 year old? Why bother? I can't believe you would run this as your headline story.

So what's your problem? If you only get so much info from the police you let us know. It was a theft.

So walmart comes to new Lenox and everyone is surprised about people going there to steal ? Garbage in = Garbage out . If they are like the Lockport store, they only have 1 kid walking around trying to catch someone stealing. Always understaffed and don't really care about theft. Just be careful when u go.

Wally should just hire an off-duty cop if they are serious about loss prevention. They want the public to know they prosecute for theft, but the bad publicity will backfire.
