The Way of the Walmart: New Lenox Cops Catch 1 Alleged Shoplifter, 1 in the Wind

The New Lenox cops charged a Frankfort woman with stealing from the Walmart but another alleged shoplifter remains at large.

A Frankfort woman was foiled in her bid to smuggle things out of the New Lenox Walmart but another crook made a break for it and escaped in a separate incident that same day, police said.

The Frankfort woman, 26-year-old Jessica Tucker of 425 Ohio Road, was apprehended in the East Lincoln Highway superstore shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.

An officer sent to the scene of the alleged crime was told "Tucker removed merchandise from the shelf, concealed it in her cart and left the store without paying for it," police said.

An officer sent to the megastore was told "an unknown subject removed merchandise from the shelf, placed it into a bag and then left the store," police said. "The complainant attempted to stop the subject, but the subject got into a vehicle and left the scene."

The matter was sent to the department's investigation division for review.
