Smash & Grab: Window Broken & Backpack Stolen From Car Parked Outside New Lenox Jewel
New Lenox police detectives are on the case.
A crook snatched a backpack out of a car parked at the New Lenox Jewel after smashing in a window Friday evening.
The thief struck shortly after 7 p.m.
An "officer was dispatched to the parking lot of Jewel in reference to a report of (a) burglary to (a) vehicle," police said. "The complainant advised an unknown person broke the window to her car and took her backpack."
The matter was sent to the police department's investigations division.
