Police Save Two Dogs From Tuesday Morning Blaze

A neighbor injured an ankle during Tuesday morning's fire but no other casualties were reported.

Police officers smashed in a glass door to save a pair of dogs during a Tuesday morning fire on Persimmon Court.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 8 a.m. and found flames shooting out from a second-floor bedroom at 20616 Persimmon Court, said Frankfort Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Robert Wilson.

An onlooker reportedly injured an ankle during the fire and was transported to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.

Two dogs were locked in the basement of the house, Wilson said, and police officers broke out a glass door to rescue them.
