A New Lenox man caught a drunken driving case after crashing into a telephone pole.

Kevin Kwiecinski, 25, of 2768 Martin Court also was charged with driving on a suspended license, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and the illegal transportation of alcohol.

Kwiecinski hit the pole shortly after 11 p.m. Jan. 31 near the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Nelson Road.

An "officer observed a vehicle that struck a utility pole," police said. "The officer discovered that the driver, Kwiecinski, had a suspended license, was illegally transporting alcohol and was under the influence of alcohol.

Kwiecinski was released after he posted bond.
