Police Blotter: Woman Takes Cab from Downers Grove, Flees Before Paying

The following arrest information was supplied by the New Lenox Police Department for June 10-12 reports. It does not indicate a conviction.

SUNDAY, JUNE 12

No-Cash Cab

A woman skipped out on a $100 bill after taking a cab from Downers Grove to New Lenox early Sunday morning. Police said the cab stopped near Cedar Road and Oakview Drive at about 2 a.m. Sunday because the woman in the car said she was going to throw up. Once she left the vehicle, she took off and the driver lost sight of her, police said.

Marijuana Possession

Police say they saw Clarence Shivers, 22, of Chicago, speeding near Route 30 and Prairie Road on Saturday night. After stopping him, police said they found Shivers in possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana and driving under the influence of the drug. He was given a traffic ticket for the speeding and DUI charges and was released on bond for possession charges.

ATVs, Fishing Poles Stolen

An employee at Noga's Lawn Care, on the 900 block of Country Creek Drive, told police that someone stole three ATVs from a trailer. The value of the vehicles is unknown, and police are investigating the incident.

A New Lenox man on the 800 block of Spinnaker Drive told police that someone stole fishing poles from his garage that were valued at about $180. Police are investigating the incident.

Speeding

Police say Christopher Galvan, 31, of Lockport, was speeding near Gougar Road and Ferro Drive. After pulling him over, they discovered that Galvan was driving with a suspended license. He was given traffic tickets.

Kenneth Crowder, 21, of Joliet, was stopped by police after they say he was speeding near Haven Avenue and Honey Lane. After pulling him over, police discovered that Crowder was driving without insurance, with a suspended license and had a warrant for his arrest for the failure to appear in Will County Court. Crowder was given traffic tickets for the violations and posted $300 for the warrant.
