Police Blotter: Traffic Stop Leads to Weed Possession Arrest

New Lenox Police reports, July 18-22.

THURSDAY, JULY 21

Tires Slashed

A resident on the 600 block of Woodlawn Avenue told police that someone slashed the tires on her car. Police couldn't determine what was used to damage the tires.

No License

Police said Brian A. Richter, 30, of Lansing, was driving with expired registration. After stopping him near Gougar Road and Maple Street, police discovered that Richter was driving without a valid license or insurance. He was given traffic tickets.

Courtney N. Martin, 21, of Oak Brook, was charged with driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran her license plate near the Kmart in New Lenox. Police also charged her with driving without insurance. Martin was given traffic tickets.

Marijuana Possession

Police pulled over Patricia A. Winkleman, 24, of the 1500 block of Regan Road in New Lenox, after they said she was speeding near Ferro Drive and Gougar Road. After stopping her, police said they discovered an unspecified amount of marijuana and drug equipment on Winkleman and the person in her passenger seat, John D. Carlson, 25, of Joliet. Carlson was charged with possession of marijuana and drug equipment, and Winkleman was charged with possession, speeding, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.

Fishing, Gone

Fishing equipment and various electronics were stolen from an unlocked car that was parked overnight on the 200 block of West Joliet Highway.

A resident on the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue told police that someone slashed the tires on her car. Police couldn't determine what was used to damage the tires.

Suspended License

Belinda Sanchez, 35, of Lockport, was charged with driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran her license plate near the 1500 block of West Route 30. She was also charged with driving without insurance and was given traffic tickets.

Brian M. Stallworth, 36, of Richton Park, was charged with driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plate near the Kmart in New Lenox. He was given a traffic ticket.

MONDAY, JULY 18

Metra Lot Theft

Electronics were stolen from a car parked in the Metra lot at 300 Church St. after someone broke a window to enter the vehicle.

Bike Stolen

A resident on the 600 block of Columbia Drive told police that someone stole a bicycle that was in front of the home.

Property Damage

A deck box was found damaged on the side of a building on the 2000 block of Nelson Road, near the strip mall that includes CVS.

Frisbee Golf Grinch

Multiple frisbee golf baskets were stolen from the 100 block of Haines Avenue, where there's a frisbee golf course at Haines Wayside Park.
