Police Blotter: Teens Caught Smoking Weed in Haines Park

THURSDAY, JUNE 21

Car Burglary

An iPod was stolen from an unlocked car in the 700 block of Wildwood Road.

Suspended License

Thomas Bezich, 42, of Champaign, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and no insurance. Police were called to the area of Schoolhouse Road and Route 30 to investigate a possibly intoxicated driver at 4:40 p.m. Bezich didn't show any signs of intoxication, but had a suspended license.

Warrant Arrest

Timothy Kernagis, 37, of the 2800 block of Tanaga Basin in New Lenox, was arrested on a warrant for the failure to appear in Will County Court. He posted bond and was released. 

TUESDAY, JUNE 19

Weed Possession

Police were called to Haines Park and found two teenagers smoking weed. Johnathon Anema, 18, of the 200 block of Manor Court in New Lenox, and Zachary Duncan, 18, of the 300 block of Sunset Trail in New Lenox, were both charged with possession of marijuana and drug equipment. According to police. Anema had about 12 grams of marijuana and Duncan had about 14 grams. They both posted bond and were released. 

MONDAY, JUNE 18

AC Stolen

An air conditioning unit was stolen from an unoccupied home in the 2900 block of Doxbury Lane. 

Bike Theft

A bike was stolen from a home in the 700 block of Downing Street. 

Property Damage

Someone scratched a car in the Metra lot at 300 Church Street. 

Car Burglary

  • Someone broke into a car in the 500 block of Lexington Road and stole change. 
  • Change was also stolen from a car in the 2300 block of Kingfisher Lane. 

Martino Property Damage

Multiple picnic tables and a metal gate behind Martino Junior High School were found damaged. 

Warrant Arrest

Martin Palafox, 23, of Joliet, was arrested on a warrant for the failure to appear in Will County Court after police stopped him for speeding in New Lenox. 

Car Burglary

An iPod cord was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 900 block of Western Avenue. 

Suspended License

Jorge Monzalvo-Verde, 30, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after randomly ran his plates near Cedar Road and Illinois Highway. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 16

Fireworks Citation

Police were called to the 700 block of Sojourn Road for a complaint about fireworks. Robert Weber was cited for the local fireworks ordinance.
