Police Blotter: Sewer Grates, DVDs and Halloween Decorations Stolen

FRIDAY, NOV. 4

Phone Harassment

Someone repeatedly called residents at a home in the 800 block of Chaffee Lane and made threats late at night.

Illegal DVD Collection

Madeline J. Wilson, 19, and Gregory A. Hahlbeck, 27, both of Lockport, were charged with retail theft. Police were called to the Kmart in New Lenox, where Wilson and Hahlbeck were being held after an employee said they tried stealing DVDs. Police said Hahlbeck took about $75 of movies and Wilson took about $250 worth. There was no information available about which movies they took.

A Mean Trick

Halloween decorations were stolen from the front yard of a home in the 2000 block of Horizon Trail.

Deceptive Practice

Police responded to TCF Bank in New Lenox to investigate a report that someone altered a check written from his account.

Open Container

Christopher P. Gill, 43, of Mokena, was charged with violating anti-theft law, driving with expired registration and driving with an open container of alcohol. Police ran Gill's license plate and saw the expired registration. After pulling him over, they realized his registration sticker was taken from another car, and he also had an open can of Coors Light in his car. He was given traffic tickets.

TUESDAY, NOV. 1

License Violations

  • Guillermo A. Rodriguez-Leiva, 39, of Blue Island, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plates near Route 30 and Williams Street.
  • Jose L. Rodriguez-Nieto, 33, of Joliet, was charged with driving with a suspended license, expired registration and no insurance. He was given traffic tickets.

MONDAY, OCT. 31

Sewer Grates Stolen

Someone stole six sewer grates, valued at about $900 total, from the Sanctuary Pointe subdivision.

Revoked License

Manuel M. Curiel, 41, of Lockport, was charged with driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance and the failure to signal. He was given traffic tickets.

Property Damage

An unoccupied home in the 2000 block of Joela Drive was illegally entered. The interior walls and a downspout outside the home were damaged.
