Police Blotter: Search Warrant Leads to Drug Bust

FRIDAY, DEC. 23

Driving Under the Influence

Michael K. McKendrick, 21, of Joliet, was stopped while driving in the 1100 block of West Laraway Road after police saw a vehicle with expired registration. An officer made contact with the driver, McKendrick, and determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

McKendrick was cited for driver under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with expired registration.

McKendrick posted bond and was released, pending a future court date.

Burglary

Officers were dispatched to Downrange Sports due an alarm going off. The officers found evidence of a forced entry, but no suspects were found at the scene. Police said five handguns were taken from the scene. The matter was forwarded to investigations.

Suspended License

  • Charles Feshenko, 55, of Chicago, was cited for driving with a suspended license. Officers stopped him after checking the license plate of the car he was driving near Lincoln Highway and School House Road.
  • Jose J. Vega, 33, of Joliet, was cited for driving with a suspended license after police ran the license plates of the car he was driving. Linda Santana-Figueroa, 44, of Joliet, a passenger in the car and also the car's owner, was cited for allowing an unauthorized driver to operate her vehicle.
  • Sebastian Zydek, 20, of Tinley Park, was cited for driving with a suspended driver's license after police ran his license plate while in the 400 block of School House Road.
  • Angel Alcantar, 23, of Mokena, was cited for driving with a suspended driver's license after officers observed Alcantar make a traffic violation. Alcantar was cited for speeding as well.

Walmart Thefts

  • An officer was dispatched to Walmart for a report of a retail theft. Security said a person removed about $27 worth of merchandise from the store without paying. The matter was forwarded to investigations.
  • An officer was dispatched to Walmart for the report of a retail theft. Security said a person removed three DVD’s from the store without paying for them. The matter was forwarded to investigations.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 21

Suspended License

  • Cesar I. Valdiva-Salinas, 22, of Joliet, was stopped by police officers after they saw him make a traffic violation at Route 6 and I-355, police said. Valdiva-Salinas was charged with driving without headlights and driving with a suspended drivers license.
  • Raul Beatriz, 27, of Joliet, was charged with driving with a suspended drivers license, after police randomly ran a license plate and found his record, while in the 1500 block of West Lincoln Highway.

TUESDAY, DEC. 20

Criminal Damage To Property

An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of North Cedar Road for the report of a criminal damage to property. The complainant told the officer that unknown person(s) broke the window of the detached garage, although no there is no evidence anyone entered. The matter was forwarded to investigations.

Fraud

  • Police received a report from a resident in the 1800 block of Lewis Lane of a fraud. The resident advised police that unauthorized purchases were made on a credit card totaling approximately $240.
  • An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of Cimarron Drive for the report of a fraud. The complainant advised that unauthorized purchases were made on a credit card totaling approximately $1000.

Walmart Theft

Anthony J. Lemus, 42, of New Lenox, was charged with retail theft after a report that Lemus, an employee, was removing items from the store without paying. The items are worth about $280, according to the report. Lemus was charged and released on bail. He is currently awaiting his court date.

Possession of Cannabis

Paul J. Hoffman, 20, of New Lenox, was charged with possession of cannabis over 30 grams and possession of drug equipment after a police investigation led to a search warrant of his home in the 1900 block of S. Anderson Road.

During their search, police found approximately 177 grams of suspected cannabis, approximately $95 and various drug-related equipment. Hoffman was charged and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

MONDAY, DEC. 19

Suspended License

Steven C. Spearson, 51, of Manhattan, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after police received a report of a reckless driver near Francis Road and Silver Cross Boulevard, police said.
