A New Lenox man with a history of fights with his neighbor was charged with assault and more after making a death threat Saturday, police said.

Kevin J. Kunkel, 54, of the 23300 block of Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox, was charged with felony unlawful restraint, misdemeanor battery, criminal damage to property, assault and reckless conduct after a fight with his neighbor.

According to Frankfort police, the victim, who had a history of conflicts with Kunkel, drove past Kunkel's house and then was chased by car along LaGrange Road. Kunkel pulled ahead of the victim, cutting him off around LaGrange and Steger roads.

Kunkel got out of his car and yelled that he was going to kill the victim, police said. Kunkel then punched out the victim's driver-side window, causing cuts to himself and the victim. Frankfort police arrested Kunkel at his home the next day.

The words we uttered have a powerful effect in anyone's life. Thus, we should be careful on giving out words that may hurt someone's feeling, and worst thou shall not threaten anyone. As a columnist, I've also received lots of threats from someone else. Sometimes, from a prominent person that wanted to remove the write-ups in my article. And because of my risky job, I registered myself to a safety solution program that I can just hand carry since it is installed on my cell phone. It is SafeTREC, a cell phone-based personal security network that enables me to summon for help whenever an emergency arises. It also gives me one-click emergency access to family, friends, and police. At the press of a panic button, it simultaneously alerts and mobilizes a select group of friends and family when trouble may come my way. If needed, it can also be routed directly to the nearest 911 emergency services dispatcher in seconds with complete information. You can view their website here http://SafeTREC.com/
