A New Lenox man with a history of fights with his neighbor was charged with assault and more after making a death threat Saturday, police said.

Kevin J. Kunkel, 54, of the 23300 block of Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox, was charged with felony unlawful restraint, misdemeanor battery, criminal damage to property, assault and reckless conduct after a fight with his neighbor.

According to Frankfort police, the victim, who had a history of conflicts with Kunkel, drove past Kunkel's house and then was chased by car along LaGrange Road. Kunkel pulled ahead of the victim, cutting him off around LaGrange and Steger roads.

Kunkel got out of his car and yelled that he was going to kill the victim, police said. Kunkel then punched out the victim's driver-side window, causing cuts to himself and the victim. Frankfort police arrested Kunkel at his home the next day.
