Police Blotter: Man Pushes, Swears at 5-Year-Old in Jewel

Swearing at a 5-Year-Old

CORRECTION: Larry De Sando was originally listed as the subject charged in this incident, but that was due to an error printed by the police. De Sando was only a witness at the scene and was not charged with any crime. The correct information is updated below. 

Jason H. Bowden, 32, of the 800 block of South Cooper Road in New Lenox, was charged with disorderly conduct and battery. Police say Bowden physically tried to move a 5-year-old boy out of his way as he was trying to get to the self-service cashier at the Jewel Osco on Nelson Road. Others in the store said he was yelling and swearing at the boy, who was not his child. Bowden posted bond and was given a court date.

Fake Insurance Cards

  • George A. Orton, 47, of the 1500 block of Andrea Drive in New Lenox, was ticketed for driving without insurance, driving with expired registration and providing a false insurance card.
  • Brian E. Querry, 28, of Crest Hill, was ticketed for driving without insurance, driving with expired registration and providing a false insurance card.
  • Justin M. Hastings, 21, of Plainfield, was ticketed for driving without insurance, driving with expired registration and providing a false insurance card.

Trailer Stolen

Someone took a 2-by-5 trailer from a driveway at a home in the 1200 block of Elm Drive.

Walmart Theft

Jean L. Konopasek, 44, of the 100 block of South Cooper Road in New Lenox, was charged with retail theft after someone at Walmart said she concealed about $50 worth of items and left without paying. Konopasek posted bond and was given a court date.

Computer Chips Taken

Someone stole a cart full of computer chips, valued at $1,000, from Walmart.

Sewer Grates Stolen

Six sewer grates were stolen at the intersection of Blackberry Lane and Calistoga Drive.

Property Damage

Someone scratched the side of a car parked in the 1300 block of North Cedar Road.
