Police Blotter: Man Chokes Family Member, Charged With Domestic Battery

TUESDAY, JULY 5

Theft at Jewel

An employee at the Jewel-Osco on Nelson Road told police that someone stuffed a bag with cosmetic items and left the store without paying.

Credit Fraud

A resident on the 700 block of Columbia Drive reported that someone used her personal information to obtain credit.

Suspended License

Police said they saw Jose Quirino, 42, of Joliet, make an illegal turn at Ellis Court and Gougar Road. After pulling him over, police discovered that Quirino was driving on a suspended license. He was given traffic tickets.

Wallet, Phone Stolen

A man's wallet and cell phone were stolen from his unlocked car, which was parked on the 600 block of Heartland Drive.

MONDAY, JULY 4

Car Parts Taken

Various car parts and accessories were stolen from cars parked in the lot near Midwest Thunder on the 200 block of Stone Court.

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Suspended License

Jesse Mauer, 21, of the 800 block of Wisconsin Road in New Lenox, was charged with driving on a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plates near Cedar Road and Route 30.

Early-Morning Fight

A woman was injured after trying to break up a fight at 4 a.m. on the 700 block of Longlane Road. She went to intervene and was hit, but her injuries were unspecified. She was not taken to the hospital.

Domestic Battery

Michael Szczepanik, 45, of the 1200 block of Timber Place, was charged with domestic battery after police were called to his home Sunday afternoon. Police said he was choking a family member but would not specify who. Szczepanik was taken to Will County Jail.

SATURDAY, JULY 2

Suspended License

Police said they saw Charles Allen, 41, of Chicago, make an illegal turn at Route 30 and Williams Street. After pulling him over, the officer discovered that Allen had a suspended license. He was given traffic tickets.

Kevin Mynarlzyk, 30, of Lockport, was charged with driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance after police randomly ran his license plate near Cedar Road and Otto Drive.

Cable Fraud

A resident on the 2800 block of Meadowpath Lane told police that someone was using his personal information to pay for cable TV service.

Property Damage

The siding on a house on the 700 block of Sojourn Road was damaged, a resident reported to police.

FRIDAY, JULY 1

Electronics Stolen

A woman on the 600 block of Turtledove Lane told police that someone stole various electronics from her living room. The resident believes it was a person she knows who was already in her home.

Bike Taken

A man went into Target to shop and found his bike was missing after leaving the store at about 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Suspended License

Joseph Arnett, 28, of Joliet, was charged with driving on a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plate near Spencer Road and Route 30. Arnett was given traffic tickets.

Cable Fraud

A resident on the 200 block of Sonoma Road told police that someone was using his personal information to pay for cable TV service.

Man Throws Punch

Joseph Johnson, 41, of Mokena, was charged with battery after someone reported he had hit him in the face at the Lion's Den Park on the 500 block of South Cedar Road. Johnson was released after posting bond.
