Police Blotter: Man Charged With DUI, Child Endangerment

New Lenox Police reports, Aug. 23-Sept. 1.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 1

Weed Possession

Tasha N. Mallard, 41, of the 200 block of Sauk Trail in Park Forest, was charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and arrested on an in-state warrant after police randomly ran her license plate. Mallard was stopped near the intersection of Gougar and Maple Roads. She was issued traffic tickets and released on bond for the warrant.

Walmart Theft

Police were called to Walmart, 501 E. Lincoln Hwy., after an employee tried stopping someone who left the store with unpaid merchandise. The person dropped the merchandise and fled the scene.

Suspended Licenses

Edmundo Hernandez, 39, of the 200 block of Richards Street in Joliet, was charged with driving on a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plate. Hernandez was stopped near the Route 30 and Interstate 80 interchange. He was issued traffic tickets.

Madia Figueroa, 19, of the 400 block of Peale Street in Joliet, was charged with driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance. Figuera was stopped after disobeying a traffic signal in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway. Figuera was issued traffic tickets.

DUI with Child in the Car

Matthew M. Polchinski, 55, of the 800 block of South Pine Street in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance, violating a handicapped parking space and endangering the life and health of a child. An officer said Polchinski attempted backing out of a handicapped parking space without a placard, and later determined Polchinski was under the influence and had a child with him in the car. Polchinski was issued traffic tickets and released on bond.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 31

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A resident in the 600 block of Princeton Lane reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle and removed electronics equipment.

Suspended License

Alondra Arcos, 33, of the 1200 block of Brown Street in Joliet, was charged with driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance after police randomly ran her plates. Arcos was stopped near Cedar and Maple Roads. She was issued traffic tickets. 

Suspended License Finds Warrant

Ricky V. Bridges, 23, of the 100 block of Dellwood Avenue in Lockport, was charged with driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis, and also arrested on an in-state warrant. Bridges was stopped near the Interstate 355 and Route 6 interchange after he made a traffic violation, police said. Bridges was issued traffic tickets and posted bond for the warrant.

Theft Reported

Police were called to Walmart, 501 E. Lincoln Hwy., after someone had received store credit after returning an item that had not been purchased, police said.

TUESDAY, AUG. 30

Suspended License, Cannabis

Alberto J. Lopez, 20, of the 400 block of Aspen Drive in New Lenox, was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of cannabis. An officer stopped Lopez near Cedar Road at First Avenue after Lopez ran a stop sign. Lopez was found to have less than 2.5 grams of cannabis on him, police said. Lopez was issued tickets for the violations.

MONDAY, AUG. 29

Revoked License

Angelica Garcia, 24, of the 600 block of Grant Avenue in Joliet, was charged with driving on a revoked license and driving with a cracked windshield. Garcia was stopped in the 400 block of Nelson Road. She was issued traffic tickets after an officer saw the cracked windshield.

TUESDAY AUG. 23

Old License Plates Rack Up Fines

A New Lenox woman sought an officer's help retrieving license plates from her  daughter’s old car a year after the sale, police said. The woman told  police her daughter sold the car to a Chicago Heights man before leaving  for college in Florida, but the man refused to remove the plates and  had accrued fines, police said. An officer accompanied the woman to the  address on Normandy Drive and retrieved the plates, said.
