Police: Man Breaks Into Car, Heads to Target for Shopping

Car Damaged

A car in the 2700 block of Foxwood Drive was damaged.

Man Caught Using Stolen Credit Card

Someone called police at about 8:20 p.m. and said they saw a person break the window to a car in the 2400 block of East Joliet Highway and steal various items. 

According to police, the offender drove from the scene and was followed by the caller. The offender went into the nearby Target to use a stolen credit card when police arrived.

Donald Pearson, 27, of Dixmoor, was charged with burglary and booked in Will County jail. Police also discovered that the driver, Victor Shaw, 37, of Joliet, had a warrant for his arrest. 

TUESDAY, APRIL 24

Resident Scammed out of $1,900

A New Lenox resident told police that someone called him claiming to be his grandson. The caller said he needed cash and asked the man to send $1,900 to him in Spain. The resident did that and later realized it wasn't his grandson, because his grandson was at home. 

Walmart Theft

Four unidentified women stole an unknown amount of clothing from the Walmart in New Lenox. 

Suspended License

Saul Reyes-Sanchez, 20, of Rockdale, was ticketed for running a red light, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance. 

MONDAY, APRIL 23

Credit Fraud

A resident told police that an unknown person used his credit to make about $950 in unauthorized purchases. 

In-State Warrant

Richard Weinberg, 25, of the 1500 block of Cimarron Drive in New Lenox, was stopped by police after they say he was speeding near Francis and Gougar roads. Police then discovered Weinberg was driving without insurance and had a warrant for his arrest for the failure to appear in Scott County Court. Weinberg posted bond and was released. 

Suspended License

Dustin Roberts, 27, of the 100 block of Barbara Lane in New Lenox, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and disobeying a no-passing zone.
