Police Blotter: Heroin Possession, DUI, Walmart Theft
New Lenox police reports, Feb. 20-23.
THURSDAY, FEB. 23
DUI Charge
Frank Riha, 51, of the 11000 block of Wexford Drive in Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegally transporting alcohol and running a red light. Police stopped Riha on Laraway Road after they saw him ignore the stop light. Officers found a bottle of vodka in the car. Riha was given traffic tickets for the charges.
Walmart Theft
Police were called to Walmart to deal with a woman detained after trying to leave the store without paying for clothing. Sheri Hogan, 22, of Joliet, was charged with retail theft. She posted a recognizant bond and were released.

Suspended License
Ernest Gamez, 23, of the 11000 block of First Avenue in Mokena, was charged with driving with a suspended license and no insurance. He was taken to Will County Jail pending a bond hearing.
In-State Warrant
Maria Zamudo, 29, of Joliet, was stopped by New Lenox police after they ran her plates and discovered she had a warrant for her arrest for the failure to appear in Will County Court. Zamudo posted a $300 bond and was released.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22
Heroin Possession
Ashley N. Wheeler, 25, of Joliet, was charged with heroin possession following a traffic stop in New Lenox. Police said Wheeler failed to use her turn signal at Cedar Road and Illinois Highway, and after stopping her found less than 1 gram of heroin. She was also charged with failing to signal, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance. She was taken to Will County Jail pending a bond hearing.
License Violations
- Mauro Munoz, 22, of Morris, was ticketed for driving with an obstructed windshield, a suspended license and no insurance.
- Robert Bass, 21, of the 400 block of Wisconsin Road in New Lenox, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and no insurance.
- Lori K. Gardner, 43, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran her plates near Edmonds Drive and Francis Road.
MONDAY, FEB. 20
In-State Warrant
James F. Wilkens, 19, of the 20700 block of Ellen Drive in Frankfort, turned himself in to the New Lenox Police Department on a warrant for his arrest for the failure to appear in Will County Court. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released.
Target Theft
A woman told police she left her purse in a changing room at Target in New Lenox, and it was gone when she went to retrieve it.
