Police Blotter: DUIs, Loose Dogs and Walmart Theft

New Lenox Police reports, March 7-13.

sunday, march 13

Marijuana Possession

Mario Centeno-Martinez, 33, of Joliet, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana after he was pulled over near Lancaster Drive and Hempstead Place. Police say they stopped Centeno-Martinez after they saw him fail to signal, and afterward they discovered he was driving with a suspended license and no valid insurance. He was taken to Will County Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.

Car Drives into Ditch

Police found Bradley Kristensen, 23, of Oak Forest, in his vehicle, which had gone off the road and into a ditch at 10:12 p.m. on the 1100 block of Laraway Road. Police say Kristensen was texting while driving when his car went into the ditch, and they accused him of drinking and driving. He was taken to Will County Jail and is pending a bond hearing.

Gold Necklace Stolen

A woman from the 600 block of Burnside Court told police that someone stole a gold necklace, valued at about $50, from her dresser. Police are investigating the incident.

Suspended License

Police say they saw Felix Almanza, 24, of Joliet, driving with an obstructed windshield at 4 p.m. on the 1800 block of West Route 30. After pulling him over, police discovered that Almanza had a suspended license, did not have a valid license and did not have valid proof of insurance. He was issued traffic citations.

Walmart Booze Theft

Police say Derrick McGhee, 32, of Chicago, fled on foot from Walmart after an employee tried to stop him from stealing a bottle of booze. The employee called police after she was unable to stop McGhee, who is accused of leaving the store without paying for the $40 bottle of alcohol. When police found McGhee, he fled on foot a few blocks south on Williams Street before being caught. He was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest and was taken to Will County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Marijuana Possession

Simon Lopez, 32, of Joliet, was charged with possession of drug equipment and marijuana after he was pulled over by police near Gougar Road and Route 30. An officer randomly ran Lopez's license plate and said he was driving with a suspended license. Lopez was given a traffic citation for the suspended license and released on bond for the drug charges.

Nail & Spa Burglarized

Police were called to investigate a burglary at Nail & Spa, 2111 Calistoga Drive, that occurred overnight Thursday. A caller told police that someone broke the front window and stole about $300 and a laptop.

Suspended License

Bernardo Olvera Cruz, 25, of Chicago Heights, was charged with driving with a suspended license and having no rear registration light after police pulled him over near Route 30 and Bluestone Bay Drive. Cruz was given traffic citations.

wednesday, march 9

Suspended License

Santiago Murill0, 25, of Lockport, was charged with driving with a suspended license and without valid insurance after police randomly ran his license plates near Route 30 and Vine St. Murillo was given traffic citations.

Guillermo Cruz, 21, of Chicago, was stopped by police after they say he was driving without a valid safety sticker. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and did not have valid proof of insurance.

Release the Hounds

Police say they saw Tracy Sendra, 46, of the 12000 block of Regan Road, walking three dogs without leashes. When an officer tried to inform her of a village ordinance that requires leashes, police say Sendra refused to give her name and tried to leave the scene in her car, which was parked nearby. She was given a local ordinance citation for the loose dogs and was released on bond for charges of obstructing an officer.

tuesday, march 8

Suspended License

Mario Tapia, 21, of Joliet, was pulled over by police after they randomly ran his license plate near 1800 W. Route 30. Police say they discovered Tapia was driving with a suspended license and without insurance. He was given traffic citations.

Revoked License

Celedonio Guzman, 41, of Joliet, was stopped by police after they randomly ran his license plates and discovered he was driving with a revoked license. Guzman was given traffic citations.
