Police Blotter: Catalytic Converters Stolen, Unlocked Car Burglarized

New Lenox police reports, Aug. 15-19.

THURSDAY, AUG. 18

Suspended License

Officers on patrol randomly ran the license plate of a vehicle and found that the registered owner of a vehicle had a suspended driver's license. Matthew F. King, 23, of the 8100 block of Edgebrooke Lane in Tinley Park, was issued traffic tickets for the violation.

License Revoked, Busted for Possession

During a routine check of license plates, officers found that a driver had a revoked driver's license. Peter M. Haljean, 45, of the 12100 block of Aspen Lane in Homer Glen, also was found to have a controlled substance in his possession, police said. Haljean was arrested and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for booking.

In-State Warrant

Joseph B. Healy, 36, of Sugar Grove, turned himself in to police for an in-state warrant. He posted bond and was released.

Car Window Smashed

Police received a report of criminal damage to property in the 500 block of Wildwood Drive after someone smashed the driver's side window of a vehicle. The matter is still under investigation.

Suspended License

Police stopped Ana C. Fuller, 25, of the 600 block of Lincoln Lane in Frankfort, for a moving violation. During the stop, officers determined that Fuller's driver's license was suspended. She was issued traffic tickets.

Bike Stolen from Unlocked Garage

Police received a report of a stolen bike in the 1000 block of Cornell Street. The victim told police that an unknown person(s) entered their unlocked garage and removed the victim's bike.

TUESDAY, AUG. 16

Catalytic Converters Stolen

Police received a report of a theft of a catalytic converter from a car on the 300 block of Church Street. While investigating, police found five other cars that had similar damage.

Assault at Charley Horse Restaurant

Police were dispatched to the Charley Horse Restaurant, 901 E. Lincoln Highway, at 6:15 p.m. after getting a report of an assault. Police spoke with a victim who told officers that Christopher A. Sanders, 38, of the 1200 block of Edmonds Avenue, had assaulted her. Sanders was taken into custody and released after posting $100 bond.

Unlocked Car Burglarized

Police responded to a report of a burglary to an unlocked car in the 200 block of Wintree Lane. Electronics equipment and money were taken from the car, according to the report.

Traffic Stop Leads to DUI

Donald F. Steinhaus, 34, of the 600 block of Stonegate Road, was stopped by police at the intersection of Gougar and Laraway roads and was found to be driving under the influence and in possession of cannabis and drug equipment, police said. Steinhuas was issued tickets for his violations and posted bond.

MONDAY, AUG. 15

Credit Charges Without Consent

Police received a report of fraud from someone in the 1800 block of Heatherway Lane, after the resident noticed charges that were made to a credit card without consent. The case is under investigation.

Car Tire, Headphones Stolen

A pair of headphones and a tire were reported stolen from an unlocked car in the 300 block of Yamma Ridge.
