Police Blotter: Car Burglaries, Drug Equipment and More

New Lenox police reports, Jan. 3-6.

THURSDAY, JAN. 5

License Violation

Brittany J. Bysina, 19, of the 12000 block of West Donegal Lane in New Lenox, was ticketed for speeding and driving without insurance or a valid license.

Obstructing Justice

Jason M. Spiess, 25, of the 2900 block of Rydal Street in New Lenox, was charged with obstructing justice after giving police a fake name during a traffic stop. Police stopped Spiess after noticing a cracked windshield, and also discovered he was driving with a suspended license. Spiess was given traffic tickets.

iPod Stolen

A resident in the 2000 block of Southwind Drive told police that someone stole an iPod from his home during a New Year's Eve party.

Lawn Mower Stolen

Someone broke the window to a garage in the 400 block of Marley Road and stole a lawn mower.

In-State Warrant

Donald W. Moruzzi, 49, of the 1100 block of Shagbark Court in New Lenox, turned himself in on a warrant for his arrest. He was released after posting bond and was given a court date.

Anti-Theft Law

Richard D. Plunge, 23, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving with expired registration and without insurance. Police stopped Plunge and discovered that he took a valid registration sticker from another car and put it on his expired plates, bringing motor vehicle anti-theft law charges. Plunge was given traffic tickets.

License Violations

  • Lawrence T. Gates, 33, of Chicago, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license after police randomly ran his license plates near Route 30 and Interstate 80.
  • Leann R. Michalski, 43, of the 2200 block of Cattleman Drive in New Lenox, was ticketed for speeding and driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

TUESDAY, JAN. 3

Drug Equipment

Two New Lenox residents were charged with possession of drug equipment following a traffic stop. Joshua P. Varichak, 20, of 12000 block of Cashlenan Lane, was pulled over and ticketed for driving without insurance and having expired registration. Police searched the car and found Varichak and a passenger—Corey R. Bueschel, 21, of the 300 block of Hillside Road—in possession of drug equipment. They were given tickets and court dates.

Car Burglarized

Someone stole cash and a purse from cars parked in a lot in the 200 block of East Maple Street after breaking the windows.

Property Damage

  • Someone broke the window to another car in the 300 block of West Maple Street but didn't take anything.
  • The siding was damaged on a home in the 2600 block of Gannet Lane.

In-State Warrant

Ryan D. West, 21, of the 3000 block of Carlyle Court in New Lenox, turned himself into the police on a warrant for his arrest. West was released after posting bond and was given a court date.
